The Bulls have a lot of work to do this summer after the first week of free agency. They need to make sure they address their biggest needs and try to avoid any more major setbacks as they head into the next season.
The nba season schedule 2021 is a need that the Bulls must address after the first week of free agency.
The Chicago Bulls have finally found a squad capable of making a postseason run. They are coming off a dismal season in which they finished 31-41 and missed the playoffs for the second year in a row. The Bulls made several excellent free-agent signings, putting them in a good position to reach the playoffs.
They signed guard Lonzo Ball to a four-year, $85 million contract while acquiring DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade deal. Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, a 2025 first-round selection, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick were traded by the Bulls. DeRozan will sign a three-year, $85 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. These acquisitions complement Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls’ All-Stars.
In addition, the Bulls signed guard Alex Caruso to a four-year, $37 million contract. Caruso was an integral component of the Lakers’ 2020 championship run and will play a vital role for the Bulls.
While the Bulls’ roster seems to be in excellent shape, they still need to acquire some role players. After the first week of NBA Free Agency in 2021, this is the most pressing issue the Bulls must address.
The most pressing issue for the Bulls is wing depth.
The Bulls have a solid roster, but they still need wing depth. Over the last several seasons, they’ve developed a strong young core that will provide excellent depth for Ball, DeRozan, LaVine, and Vucevic. Patrick Williams and Coby White, in particular, will have a significant effect since they will both play pivotal roles. Williams seems to be set to play power forward for the Bulls, where he will offer excellent defense. White, on the other hand, is expected to be the team’s sixth player off the bench, capable of providing immediate offense.
The Bulls also have Troy Brown Jr. and backup big Tony Bradley on the bench, who may be valuable contributors. After those players, the others aren’t worth anything. The Bulls may seek to acquire Dorian Finney-Smith since the Mavericks are allegedly interested in forward Lauri Markkanen in a sign-and-trade deal. Last season, Finney-Smith was a strong three-point shooter and a decent defender.
Finney-Smith averaged 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season. He also hit a career-high 39.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Finney-Smith would be an excellent role player for Chicago if he could be acquired.
Free agency James Ennis III, who averaged 8.4 points and 4 rebounds per game last season, is another wing possibility. He also hit a career-high 43.3 percent from three-point range. The Bulls should look into signing Ennis because he would be a fantastic fit as a role player.
Season preview for the Bulls
The Bulls will be in a fantastic position if they can get one or both of these guys. It’s the team’s greatest flaw, and if they can overcome it, they might be legitimate Eastern Conference contenders. Although the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks will be difficult to defeat, the Chicago Bulls have a very strong squad. DeRozan and Ball should boost the offense, and they already have some capable defenders on the roster.
Because of their ideal match, LaVine and Ball should be a dynamic backcourt. Ball is a defender and a facilitator, while LaVine is a pure scorer. DeRozan can provide another scoring option, while Vucevic will try to reclaim his spot as one of the best centers in the league.
The Bulls are destined for big things in the 2021-22 season, and they will be difficult to defeat if they acquire wing depth.
