Anthony is arguably the most emotional player in the NBA. When he was on his Knicks, he often used to say some outlandish things after big games–sometimes taking credit for giving up a game-winning buzzer beater himself! What’s more shocking than Anthony doing this? The Lakers actually winning when they were down by 3 points with 0.9 seconds left in overtime thanks to someone else being credited with that infamous shot
The Lakers are finally getting healthy. With LeBron James, Rajon Rondo and Luke Walton back in the fold, the purple and gold have found their way to a 10-8 record since Anthony’s arrival. The forward has been instrumental for Lakerland with his scoring prowess as well as leading by example on defense.,The “lakers players” is a credit given to Carmelo Anthony for sparking the post. The Lakers are now in first place, and the credit goes to Melo.
NEW YORK (WABC) — When LeBron James was disqualified for the second time in his 19-year career on Sunday in Detroit, he was escorted off the floor by three team security people.
He was soon joined by another member of the squad. Carmelo Anthony of the Los Angeles Lakers took a break from the bench to check on James before returning to his colleagues with a message: If there was ever a moment for the Lakers to start looking like the team they all imagined they were supposed to be, this is it.
On a videoconference call Monday, Anthony stated, “I just felt like we needed to all come together, we needed to trust in the broader cause.” “And I believe we were searching for something similar at the time, based on the manner I was able to capture everyone’s attention at the time. And it just so happened to be me last night. It may be someone else tomorrow. But, at that very moment last night, something needed to be uttered to begin the ball going. That was just what we needed.”
With almost a quarter of the season gone, the Lakers have had a tough path after assembling one of the most accomplished squads in league history during the summer. They were winless in preseason, had a few rotation players go down with injuries, had a teammate brawl in the second game of the season, and then there was the James-Isaiah Stewart incident in the star’s second game back after a prolonged layoff due to an abdominal injury.
“It’s bad that we had to go through that,” Anthony remarked, “but we needed something like that to get us going.” “We haven’t been put to that kind of test all season, and last night was a big, massive test that we passed.”
Los Angeles was seven games behind the Pistons entering the day. 500, with a 12-point lead at the time of the expulsion and a 15-point lead to begin the fourth quarter before the Lakers rallied for a 37-17 victory. Anthony’s speech seems to have struck a chord.
“He was fantastic,” a team insider said after the huddle. “Poised. Calm. Clear. I was able to keep everyone together. The ultimate veterinarian.”
He also contributed on the field, scoring 18 points on 5-for-8 shooting while also grabbing two rebounds and blocking two shots. In the 30 minutes he played, the Lakers outscored the Pistons by 13 points.
“Melo has been fantastic for us,” stated coach Frank Vogel after the game on Sunday. “That is something I cannot emphasize enough. He has really been a champion for all of the issues that we are attempting to achieve. The defensive commitment and buy-in, as well as the desire to play for one another… He was the one who, together with others, spoke up and said, “We can’t allow this turn into a loss.” We’ve got to band together on this. So kudos to him.”
It served as a reminder that Anthony, who joined the Lakers on a veteran’s minimum salary, still has some gravity, even if he is no longer the superstar he once was.
“Why did I raise my voice? That’s simply my personality, that’s who I am “Anthony said. “It’s a part of who I am and what I do. I’m a man who doesn’t say much, but when the moment comes, it’s natural for me to speak out. It wasn’t anything planned ahead of time. It was at that very time when everyone was gathered. We saw and understood what was going on. And, like I mentioned on [Sunday] night, the game could’ve gone other way.”
When it comes to the confrontation, the Lakers are praying for the worst to be past. The NBA’s investigation into the incident is still ongoing, according to Vogel, who added that any further sanctions resulting from the altercation has yet to be established.
“They conduct interviews, speak with all parties involved, and then make their conclusion,” Vogel said. “They’re still at that stage,” says the narrator.
When asked how the Lakers would manage without James for their game against the New York Knicks on Tuesday, Anthony said he didn’t want to think about not having his teammate on the floor for L.A.’s lone trip to Madison Square Garden this season.
He said, “Well, we’re not going to put that energy out there.” “As a result, we’re not going to waste that energy.”
