Team Reptile releases a trailer for their upcoming game, ‘Bomb Rush Cyberfunk’. The team is building a new experience that will be highly interactive and feature a “blockchain-powered economy”.
Team Reptile released a new trailer for their upcoming game, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. The game will be available on Steam and PlayStation 4.
A trailer for Team Reptile’s forthcoming game “Bomb Rush Cyberfunk” has been published. Skating, dancing, tagging, and fighting repressive cops in a bright and futuristic city are all part of the game. “Bomb Rush Cyberfunk,” which evokes the aesthetic, tone, and sound of Sega’s “Jet Set Radio,” seems to be satiating a fan following that has been hungry since the Xbox game “Jet Set Radio Future” in 2002.
Love as a concept
“Jet Set Radio” was a game created by a subsidiary inside Sega known as Smilebit, for those who have been in this planet long after Sega exited the hardware industry.
They were previously known as Team Andromeda and were best known for their Sega Saturn games “Panzer Dragoon.” While these games were highly praised for their distinct fantasy worlds, arcade action gameplay, and symphonic soundtracks, they had the misfortune of being launched on a platform where both the Nintendo 64 and the first PlayStation were completely dominant.
The team intended to produce something different for their first game on the forthcoming Sega Dreamcast than “Panzer Dragoon.” In contrast to its predecessor’s fantastical setting, this new book would be set in contemporary times and deal with pop culture and adolescent rebellion. The anti-establishment sentiments that will pervade this new game were inspired by David Fincher’s “Fight Club.”
“Jet Set Radio” is set in Tokyo-To, Japan, where the Rokkaku Group, a ruthless corporate conglomerate, has taken control of the city and the police force. Skater gangs defy the restrictive atmosphere by spraying graffiti on the streets. Players take on the role of the GGs, a jet-fueled roller skating gang that takes on other gangs and the strong police force that silences anyone who resist The Rokkaku Group.
The namesake Jet Set Radio, presented by the funky DJ Professor K, broadcasts all of the happenings of this battle.
In 2000, the Dreamcast game “Jet Set Radio” was launched to positive reviews and decent sales. The game was praised for its cel-shaded visuals and Hideki Naganuma’s distinctive music. Surprisingly, the game fared better in the West than in the developed world, despite the fact that it was held in Japan.
Sega abandoned the hardware industry and became a third-party developer shortly after the Dreamcast was canceled. Smilebit produced two Xbox sequels to their earlier titles. “Jet Set Radio Future,” a reworking of the original title with a different narrative and new gameplay, was one of these titles. The game received positive reviews but low sales.
Since then, Sega has turned down every proposal for a “JSR” sequel from a variety of studios. Smilebit was subsequently renamed Sega Sports R&D, while Hideki Naganuma went on to provide music to other Sega brands including “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Persona.”
I can’t seem to get enough of you.
Team Reptile has arrived. Since its inception in 2011, this independent Dutch developer has released two games that mimic the aesthetic and sounds of “JSR.” “Lethal League” and its sequel, “Lethal League Blaze,” were fighting games with cel-shaded visuals and character designs reminiscent of “JSR,” as well as music composed by Hideki Naganuma, the game’s composer.
“Bomb Rush Cyberfunk” seems to be a full-fledged spiritual successor to Sega’s long-defunct series. “Bomb Rush Cyberfunk” includes skateboarding, which was absent from “JSR.” The game will be released on the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022.
